Stock#: JH44431

DESCRIPTION: PW mvt only - Elgin, Convertible model, 21J, Grade 72, 16S, currently set in OF format, white glass enamel DS canister-style (friction fit snap-on) dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, raised gold jewel settings, nickel damascene, s#607038. A scarce top grade movement, we believe total production of Elgin's Grade 72 was approximately 450 made as all examples we have observed have fallen neatly within only the 607001 to 607450 portion of the larger serial number block (607001 to 608000) that was reserved for this grade.
CONDITION: Mvt: Ticking somewhat sluggishly, balance wheel with no serial number scribed to the underside of its spars (arms), overhaul recommended, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates with some typical mild micro-fine scratches, steelwork with some bits of oxide, one case screw is mismatched; nearly flawless dial with small fine scratches at edge outside 10 and 1, subtle faintly visible shadow in glaze of seconds-register in shape of Shriners symbol which was presumably once overpainted on dial surface but is now gone leaving only a light trace visible only at certain lighting angles; excellent hands.
ESTIMATE: $1000 - $1600
